Etihad Airways adds seasonal Zanzibar flights for summer 2026

Etihad Airways Zanzibar

Etihad Airways will bring back seasonal flights from Abu Dhabi to Zanzibar next summer. From 14 June to 6 September 2026, the airline will operate four weekly services to the island, using its Airbus A320 aircraft with both Business and Economy cabins.

The schedule

The flights run on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, leaving Abu Dhabi in the morning and returning from Zanzibar in the evening, making for convenient same-day connections. They are also well-timed for weekend escapes from the summer heat in the UAE.

EY91
Depart Abu Dhabi (AUH) 09:10
Arrive Zanzibar (ZNZ) 13:50

EY92
Depart Zanzibar (ZNZ) 17:50
Arrive Abu Dhabi (AUH) 00:30 +1

This marks Etihad’s 30th new route announced this year, part of the carrier’s wider expansion. With stronger European connections feeding into Abu Dhabi, Zanzibar becomes an easier summer getaway for both GCC and European travellers.

Flying to Zanzibar with Etihad Guest Miles

Cash tickets are already on sale at etihad.com and via the mobile app.

It is also possible to book using Etihad Guest Miles. There is decent availability in both Economy and Business Class from late July onwards. One-way Etihad GuestSeat redemptions will cost:

Economy

  • 20,000 miles for Value GuestSeat
  • 22,000 miles for Comfort GuestSeat
  • 26,000 miles for Deluxe GuestSeat

Business

  • 45,000 miles for Comfort GuestSeat
  • 70,000 miles for Deluxe GuestSeat

Where next?

Etihad Airways has been on a roll with 30 new destinations announced in 2025. There are three months of the year still left to go. Which begs the question – what will be the next new route announcement? My Etihad wish list includes the US West Coast. What new routes would you like to see Etihad launch?
