Emirates adds second flight to London Stansted

Emirates has launched a second daily flight between Dubai (DXB) and London Stansted (STN). The extra flight took off this afternoon. It brings to 11 the number of daily flights Emirates operates between Dubai and London’s three major airports.

The new flight leaves Dubai at 1415 and arrive at London Stansted at 1845. The additional return flight departs London Stansted at 1500 and lands in Dubai at 105 the following morning.

Using Skywards Miles for Emirates’ new First Class

The extra flight is operated by a three-class 777-300ER. This aircraft features Emirates’ newest private suite in First Class.

When the new private First Class suite initially launched, Emirates blocked Skywards Miles redemptions from being booked. However, that seems to have changed recently. It appears seats in the new first class suite are being released in the week leading up to departure.

A one-way Skywards redemption in First Class between Dubai and London Stansted costs 85,000 Skywards Miles and AED 1,720 in taxes and fees. The taxes and fees on a one-way redemption in the other direction are a little more pricey £500 GBP (about AED 2438).

Keep in mind that when starting in Dubai First Class passengers have access to the Emirates First Class lounge. Leaving Stansted Emirates First Class passengers only have access to the shared Escape lounge.

There were questions as to why Emirates would put their newest and best First Class product on flights to London Stansted rather than Heathrow or even Gatwick. However, it does give flyers an extra incentive to make the trek out to Stansted.

In addition to London Stansted, the First Class Suite is available on flights to Geneva, Brussels, Frankfurt, Kuwait, Male, Riyadh, Vienna and Tokyo Haneda.

New routes coming this summer

Emirates is adding other new destinations and flights over the summer. On 2 July 2019 Emirates will launch a new flight connecting Dubai to Porto in Portugal.
