There are four tiers to Etihad Guest, the frequent flyer programme of Etihad Airways. This post explains what you must do to get Etihad Guest Bronze Tier status.
Members of Etihad Guest collect both Guest Miles and Tier Miles. Guest Miles can be used to pay for flights (rewards or redemptions). Meanwhile, Tier Miles determines elite status and provides additional travel benefits such as free seat selection, lounge access and excess baggage allowances.
The four tiers of the Etihad Guest programme are Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. The Bronze Tier is the entry-level and available to anyone joining the programme. Silver, Gold and Platinum are elite tiers with extra benefits and privileges.
What are the benefits of Etihad Guest Bronze status?
Bronze has very limited benefits beyond earning and redeeming Etihad Guest miles on Etihad Airways and 20 airline partners.
The main perk to Bronze status is free chat and messaging onboard Etihad Airways flights. This is free to Etihad Guest members. Without membership, you would need to pay USD $2.99 on flights under 7 hours and $4.99 USD on flights over 7 hours.
The complete list of Etihad Guest benefits can be found on Etihad.com here.
Signing up for Etihad Guest
You can sign up for Etihad Guest membership here. New members will automatically get Bronze status.
It is worth considering setting up an Etihad Guest Family Membership at the same time. The Family Membership allows you to pool all of the miles earned individually by a family group of up to nine people in a combined pot.
Remember, it is also possible to retro-claim miles for flights taken on Etihad Airways up to six months before joining Etihad Guest.
Moving up Silver status
Silver is the next tier up from Bronze and comes with additional benefits, including lounge access in Abu Dhabi. You can find out about all the benefits of Etihad Guest Silver in this post.
You will need to earn 25,000 Tier Miles or fly 20 Tier segments to move up to Etihad Guest Silver status.
