The global grounding of the 737 Max does not seem to be holding flydubai back from adding new destinations to the airline’s network. flydubai will launch flights to Sochi in the Russian Federation from 7 June 2019. This will be the first direct connection between Sochi and the GCC.
flydubai has been leading the way in adding new destinations from the UAE in 2019. New routes already announced this year include Tashkent, Naples, Kozhikode in Kerala and Budapest.
Sochi is an attractive year-round destination. The city is famous for its Black Sea beaches, tea plantations and winter sports in the Caucasus Mountains. The 2014 Winter Olympics took place at the Rosa Khutor Alpine Resort, a mere 45 minutes from Sochi airport.
Flights between Dubai and Sochi will operate twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays from Terminal 2. To be frank, the flight times look a little painful. You could do this a long weekend but it would mean two nights of little or no sleep. This schedule would be a deal breaker for The Expat Flyer.
Emirates will codeshare on the route. Passengers booked on EK tickets will have complimentary meals included as well as the Emirates luggage allowance.
