Etihad launches new non stop route to Luxemboug

Etihad Airways has announced a new three-times-weekly non-stop route between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Luxembourg (LUX). The route will launch on 29 October 2026. It will be the only direct flight between the UAE and Luxembourg and should cut 2-3 hours off the next fastest one-stop options.

The schedule

The outbound flight is an overnight flight departing Abu Dhabi in the early hours of the morning. The return flight is a well-timed day flight. Personally, I try to avoid overnight flights between Europe and the Gulf.

Flights will operate on Monday, Thursday and Saturday with the following  schedule:

EY51
Depart Abu Dhabi (AUH) at 02:45
Arrive Luxembourg (LUX) at 06:55

EY52
Depart Luxembourg (LUX) at 09:35
Arrive Abu Dhabi (AUH) at 19:05

The A321LR is the newest aircraft to join Etihad’s fleet.

This is no ordinary single-aisle aircraft inside. Etihad has kitted out its A321LRs with two First Class ‘Suites’, 14 lie-flat beds in Business Class, and 144 seats in Economy, of which 36 are extra-legroom seats.

Etihad has used the A321LR to launch service to a number of destinations where the demand does not justify a larger aircraft such as Chiang Mai and Hanoi.

Luxembourg is probably the perfect example of a route with premium-heavy demand but not enough volume to fill a widebody year-round that is made possible by the A321LR.

The A321LR is also being used to add frequency to existing routes. Geneva (GVA) is now twice daily while Milan (MXP) is now connected to Abu Dhabi three times a day.

I recently flew the Etihad A321LR in both First and Business Class and absolutely loved the experience. I will be sharing my first impressions in a separate post shortly.

Using Etihad GuestMiles to fly to Luxembourg

The route is not yet available to book on Etihad.com. However, the launch of a new destination is often a good opportunity to snag Etihad Guest rewards or upgrade with miles. Passenger demand can often take time to build for a new route.

I will update this post once the schedule is loaded and the route is available to book on Etihad.com.

TL;DR

Etihad Airways is launching the only non-stop flight between the UAE and Luxembourg from 29 October 2026.
