Update
Etihad Airways switched providers for their Home check-in service. The new operator is MORAFIQ. Read my review of new Etihad Home check-in experience here.
The post below the line refers to the previous Etihad Home check-in service and is no longer relevant.
Etihad Airways has partnered with DUBZ to offer Home check-in to passengers departing Abu Dhabi for the first time. You will now be able to check-in bags, pick a seat and collect your boarding pass and luggage tags at home.
It is also possible to book a home COVID-19 PCR test with Etihad’s medical partner, LifeDx at the same time.
How does it work?
Home check-in can be booked up to seven hours before your flight leaves. Check-in agents are available to come to your home, hotel or office between 8 am and 8 pm.
The agent will check travel documents, complete check-in, and collect your bags. You can also choose your seats simultaneously and pay any extra baggage fees if necessary.
Passengers that used the home check-in service can skip bag drop at Abu Dhabi International Airport and head straight through security to their gate. The next time you see your bags will be at the baggage belt at your arrival destination.
However, DUBZ will keep you updated with SMS and email notifications to let you know exactly where your bags are at each journey stage.
You must visit etihad.com/homecheckin up to seven hours before departure to book Home check-in.
Unfortunately, Home check-in is unavailable to anyone flying to the United States, unaccompanied minors or passengers requiring medical assistance.
Scheduling a home COVID-19 PCR test
If you have also opted for a home COVID-19 PCR test DUBZ will contact you to confirm the date and time for the test.
A certified technologist from LifeDx will visit your home to conduct the test. Your results will be sent by email and SMS within 24 hours.
How much does Etihad Home check-in cost?
There are three Home check-in options available to choose from.
The basic Home check-in package costs AED 220 (incl. VAT) for up to four bags, regardless of how many people travel. Additional bags are charged at AED 40 per bag.
The Home check-in + bag disinfection option costs AED 262 (incl. VAT). Your luggage will be sprayed with a solution that is effective against viruses and bacteria for up to 72 hours.
Home check-in plus adds priority boarding and priority baggage collection to the benefits above for AED 420 (incl. VAT). This option is limited to a maximum of four passengers.
Who is this good for?
Home check-in is particularly useful for families with young children or anyone travelling with a lot of luggage. Heading to the airport without the hassle of suitcases is well worth the money spent.
We have used a similar service in London several times. It definitely makes for a much more relaxed and pleasant start to a trip.
Flying post-pandemic will obviously have more friction than pre-COVID. It is really positive to see Etihad introducing options like Home check-in to try and make the journey as easy as possible.
I would love to see Etihad and DUBZ partner to offer a Land and Leave service in Abu Dhabi, with your luggage collected on arrival and delivered to your home, hotel or office.
If you are flying from Dubai this summer DUBZ offers a similar Home check-in service for passengers departing Dubai International Airport.

Dear Expat Flyer Team,
Etihad Home Check-In services powered by MORAFIQ is back in action since last week. Cheaper rates and more convenient ways to book the service. Bravo Etihad Team for reinstating the service as it was all a temporary suspension to migrate the services from the earlier provider Dubz to MORAFIQ.
