Etihad adds fourth flight to London Heathrow

  • by

Etihad Airways is adding a fourth daily flight between Abu Dhabi and London Heathrow over the busy Easter and spring holiday period in April. There will be an extra twenty flights between 5 April and 30 April.

The extra flight will operate as a day flight in both directions. It will leave Abu Dhabi around breakfast time and return from London Heathrow early afternoon. The exact timings will vary slightly from day-to-day.

  • Departs Abu Dhabi (AUH) 7.20, Arrives Heathrow (LHR) 12.00
  • Departs Heathrow (LHR) 13.40, Arrives Abu Dhabi (AUH) 23.50

Etihad plans to operate the extra flight with a 787-9 Dreamliner. There is no First class cabin on Etihad’s 787-9. However, I actually prefer the Business Studio seat on the 787 to that on the A380. The real window seats, in particular, feel more spacious. My review of the Business Studio on the 787 will be published shortly.

The big Dreamliner windows also make for ideal inflight entertainment during a day flight between Europe and the Middle East.

Etihad Guest availability to London Heathrow

Twenty extra flights mean extra Guest Seat availability. At the moment 18 of the 20 extra flights from Abu Dhabi have at least two Guest Seats available in Business Class.

These seats are likely to be snapped up quickly. Act now if you think you are looking to get to London over the holidays. Check Guest Seat availability on Etihad.com here.

A one-way Guest Seat from Abu Dhabi to London will cost 62,632 Guest miles and AED 680 for taxes and fees. Etihad also offer a Miles Plus Cash Option. This allows you to pay with fewer miles and make up the difference with cash. The fewest miles required for a one-way booking from Abu Dhabi to London is 46,876 Guest miles. The maximum cash element would be AED 1201.

The Miles Plus Cash Option is extremely good value. You are essentially buying Etihad Guest miles for less than USD $0.01/AED 0.03.

Etihad’s First and Business lounge at London Heathrow Terminal 4 has been rebranded as ‘The House’. The dining area is now in a separate room. There have also been some visible improvements to the food and drink on offer. These are my impressions of ‘The House’ from a recent visit.
