Emirates Airline is planning to join easyJet’s connections partnership Worldwide by easyJet in the next few months.
The partnership between Emirates and easyJet will initially only include Emirates three daily A380 flights between Dubai and London Gatwick. However, it sounds like there are plans to expand the agreement to include other destinations in the future.
Worldwide by easyJet was launched last year. It allows easyJet passengers to easily connect on to and from long-haul partner flights at select airports in the easyJet network.
An eclectic mix of low cost and full-service carriers including Norwegian, Virgin Atlantic and WestJet have already signed up for the partnership. Flights with Singapore Airlines and Scoot are also due to become available during 2018.
Passengers can book connecting flights on the Worldwide by easyJet page. Connections through Gatwick will have the added benefit of the airport’s own GatwickConnects service.
GatwickConnects provides connection protection in the event of delays or cancellations. Passengers who miss their onward flight from Gatwick will be rebooked at no cost. They will also receive hotel and food vouchers if needed.
Is this good news for Emirates frequent flyers?
Yes. This announcement is great news for UAE based frequent flyers.
easyJet flies to over 125 destinations from London Gatwick. Many are cities that Emirates does not and probably never will fly into.
The alternatives are not great. Currently, travellers either need to book separate tickets (with all of the risks that brings) or travel with other European airlines.
Hopefully, we will know more details about the scope of the partnership soon. We will keep you posted.
