Emirates cuts cost of Home Check-In for the holidays

The holidays are coming. That means busy airports full of passengers overloaded with gifts and winter clothes. Emirates has announced a couple offers to make holiday travel a little easier this year. Firstly, the airline is cutting the cost of their Home Check-in service by a third for passengers flying this December.

Home Check-in is a fantastic service Emirates launched earlier this year. Between 48 and 12 hours before your flight departs an Emirates agent will come to your home, hotel, office or any location in Dubai. They’ll check you in, print your boarding passes and take your luggage.

You’re then free to head straight to the departure lounge skipping the queues at the airport. If you book your ride with Emirates new Skywards Cabforce app you may even earn a few additional Skywards miles.

What does Home Check-in cost?

Home Check-in costs AED 250 for up to seven bags. Additional bags are charged at AED 25 each. You can even pay the agent for excess bags or additional weight.

Home Check-in can be booked on emirates.com any time up to 12 hours before departure. You’ll need to fill out this request form and the Emirates Home Check-in team will be in touch to confirm your booking.

To use the service you must be flying out of Dubai on an Emirates flight. You can not use Home Check-in if you’re on a flydubai operated flight, even if the flight is an Emirates codeshare booked on emirates.com.

The pick-up location must also be in Dubai. It would be great to see this expanded to include other Emirates in the future.

Extra checked baggage allowance for the holidays

Emirates is also offering some passengers flying home over the holiday an extra checked baggage allowance. Over December and January if you’re flying to certain destinations in Africa, Asia or the Middle East you may be entitled to check-in an extra 10-20 kilos of luggage.

The offer only applies to economy tickets booked by 30 November. The extra kilos varies by destination and there are certain blackout dates and restrictions. Full details of the offer can be found here
