British Airways opens new Dubai lounge; Emirates now flying to London Heathrow 48 times a week

  • by

British Airways has opened a brand-new 5,800 square foot lounge in Terminal 1 at Dubai International Airport (DXB). This isn’t a refresh of the old space — it’s an entirely new lounge, located in the area previously occupied by Qatar Airways.

The new lounge is a clear improvement on what came before. The lounge is larger, with significantly more seating — welcome news given how cramped the old space could get, especially during the morning departures.

It’s also the first lounge to showcase British Airways’ new global design style, which will eventually roll out across the network including at some point the airline’s collection of lounges at London Heathrow.

Who can access the lounge?

Access is available to passengers flying British Airways in First or Business Class. Those travelling in Premium Economy or Economy with British Airways Club Gold (oneworld Emerald) or Silver (oneworld Sapphire) status can also enter.

Passenger travelling on other oneworld airlines with either Emerald or Sapphire status are able to use the lounge as well.

A dedicated Concorde Dining Room with à la carte dining is available to customers travelling in First or holding Gold Guest List status.

Opening hours

British Airways operates three daily departures from Dubai to London Heathrow during the winter season — at 02:15, 10:00, and 13:20.

The lounge opens twice daily:

  • 06:30 to 13:00 for the two daytime departures
  • 20:30 to 02:00 for the overnight flight

Meanwhile, over at Terminal 3 Emirates will increase its London Heathrow (LHR) schedule from 26 October 2025, adding six extra weekly flights for the winter season.

The airline already operates six daily A380 services between Dubai and Heathrow, and the new flights — operated by Boeing 777-300ERs — will run every day except Friday.

Each aircraft will offer over 350 seats across First, Business and Economy. Sadly, no Premium Economy on these aircraft. However, the extra capacity is welcome as it increases the chance of securing Skywards rewards or miles upgrades between Dubai and London.
